The statue of Sima Chengzhen is 6.9 meters high, made of white marble, elegant in shape, and extremely sage like style. Sima Chengzhen, a native of wen county, Henan Province, was the fourth generation master of Maoshan Sect of Shangqing School. He was successively called into the capital by Emperors Wu Zetian, Tang Ruizong and Tang Xuanzong to preach. He divided the world's famous mountains into ten caves, thirty-six caves and seventy-two blessed lands, which made the system of caves and blessed lands mature and became an authoritative statement recognized by later generations. In the 12th year of Tang Kaiyuan, Emperor Xuanzong ordered him to set up a palace temple in Wangwu Mountain. So Sima Chengzhen came to Wangwu Mountain as instructed, and chose a piece of "Red Phoenix in Morning Sun" under the Temple of Heaven Peak to build a balcony view.
