The princess here refers to Princess Yuzhen. Princess Yuzhen was born during the reign of Wu Zetian and was the younger sister of Li Longji, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. In the 15th year of Kaiyuan, he was ordered to enter Wangwu Mountain for monasticism, where he studied under Sima Chengzhen. It is said that Princess Yuzhen once opposed Li Bai, the "Poet Fairy", in this pavilion, giving lectures on classics, hence the name "Princess Pavilion".
